Humanity for Prisoners’ Third Quarter 2026 newsletter is now available!
This edition, “Free At Last,” reflects on the unfinished story of HFP co-founder Maurice Carter and the movement that grew from his determination, faith, and vision.
Maurice helped build Humanity for Prisoners from inside a prison cell while serving 29 years for a crime he did not commit. Although his sentence was commuted in 2004 because of his failing health, his name was never legally cleared. The newsletter shares why HFP’s Board of Directors is urging Governor Gretchen Whitmer to grant Maurice a posthumous pardon—and how supporters can add their voices to that effort.
